In 1939 Renault began developing the AN series cabover trucks for the French army. One of them was an AHN truck with a carrying capacity of 3.5 tons. The car was equipped with a 6-cylinder engine and had a drive only to the rear axle. Production began in March 1941 under the direction of the German occupation administration.
AHN trucks were widely used by all branches of the German troops throughout the war everywhere – on the Soviet-German front, in Italy and France. In total for 1941-1944. about 4000 AHN vehicles were produced.
