Experimental main battle tank (MBT) developed in the early 1980s. Designed to replace the T-72 tank and to incorporate a number of new technologies, including a 152mm smoothbore gun, composite armour and remote-controlled turret. After two prototypes were built the project was cancelled in the late 1980s due to financial constraints and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
